The Nampa School District received 20 qualified candidates for the position of superintendent to lead the state’s third-largest school district. As chief executive officer of the Nampa Public Schools, the superintendent oversees administration and supervision of the district’s instructional programs and services, with an emphasis on collaboration, innovation and choice.

With the help of the Idaho School Board Association, candidates were screened to determine their experience in several areas such as superintendent and/or central district office, size of district, etc., and reference checks were conducted. A vetted list was then presented to the Board of Trustees, who have identified the following semi-finalists:

• Kim Bekkedahl, Assistant Superintendent, Kuna
• Dr. William Fritz, Assistant Superintendent, Indian River, Florida
• Dr. Andy Grover, Superintendent, Melba
• Dr. Paula Kellerer, Dean, NNU
• Dr. Geoffrey Thomas, Superintendent, Rexburg

These candidates will be interviewed at the district office on May 5. Trustees will identify finalists and invite them to a final interview on May 8. There also will be a community meet-and-greet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 8 at the District Office, where people can stop by and meet the finalists and offer feedback.

Panelists for the May 5 interviews include trustees and representatives from the community and school district, as well as parents and students. Trustee Brian McGourty is serving as board lead for the search. Information collected three years ago from the community regarding important characteristics of a superintendent is being used to inform this search.

The mission of the Nampa School District is to ensure high levels of achievement for every student and to inspire commitment to the district’s vision to fully engage every student in extraordinary learning experiences that will prepare them for successful transition to the next stage of life.
