Check presentation for Fill the Bus

There was a lot to cheer about at Karcher Mall in Nampa on Saturday, Aug. 12. That’s because Impact Radio Group – My102.7FM partnered with the mall and the Nampa School District to fill a restored 1937 school bus with backpacks, pens, pencils, clothes and other much-needed school supplies.

The drive was a huge success. Supplies filled the bus to overflowing, and the district was presented with a $2,000 check representing generous cash donations from the community and sponsors. The money will support a fund for kids in the Nampa School District who cannot afford to purchase a lunch and are unable to bring one from home.

Community members dropped off donations throughout the week leading up to Saturday’s big finish, and cheerleaders from Nampa and Skyview high schools came out for the last two hours to encourage mall patrons to donate, and to cheer for those who did. The excitement was palpable during the final push toward the $2,000 cash donation goal.

The district is grateful to all those who participated. The supplies were taken to the district warehouse where volunteers are sorting them and distributing to families in need.
