Columbia High School sophomore Macie Harreld, a state and nationally recognized young writer, was honored by the Nampa Board of Trustees in September. As a CHS freshman, Harreld wrote a short story called “Impact” that was awarded a Gold Key -- the highest distinction -- and the Best of the Gold Keys, American Voices Award in the Idaho Scholastic Art and Writing Contest. This past June, Harreld traveled to New York where she was awarded a Silver Medal in the National Scholastic Writing Contest for the essay.
