Columbia High School Athletic Director Randy Potter has been named the Idaho Athletic Administrators Association Athletic Director of the Year. Coach Potter was selected for the award from ADs nominated by their peers around the state. The award will be presented April 10 in Boise.

“People who receive this award are obviously good at what they do and are well respected around the state by people who hold the same job,” said Ty Jones, executive director of the Idaho High School Activities Association. “Randy is a very deserving winner.”

Randy Potter is a 1981 graduate of Melba High School, and a 1986 graduate of Eastern Oregon University. He started his career in Kimberly, Idaho, where he taught business education classes and was the head boys basketball coach for eight years, and well as assistant football and head track coach.

He later moved his family to Homedale, where he taught for 11 years and was the head boys basketball coach for 11 years and the athletic director for 10 years, in addition to his roles as assistant football and assistant track coach.

This year marks his 29th year in education, 20th year as an athletic director and 10th year at Columbia High School. He and his wife Kathy, who has taught elementary school for 26 years, have three children – Brady, Kiley and Morgan.
