School Board Trustee positions in Zones 1 and 2 are up for election in November. The Canyon County Elections office will be accepting candidate declaration forms Aug. 26-Sept. 6, and candidate certification forms are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 13. Forms are available on the website at https://www.canyonco.org/elected-officials/clerk/elections - click on the “docs” tab at the bottom of the page.
Steps to File:
- Fill out declaration of candidacy forms and collect signatures (five signatures of qualified electors in the zone and a notary public certification).
- Bring to the Canyon County Elections office to have signatures verified.
- Return the declaration of candidacy forms to the special district clerk to then fill out the certification portion.
- Hand deliver, mail, email or fax the certification to Canyon County Elections. Send all declarations and certifications to the elections office. Declarations should be filled out even if there is only one person running for a seat.
November 2019 Election Calendar:
Aug. 26 - First day to file declarations of candidacy for the municipal election to be held Nov. 5.
Sept. 6 - Last day to file declarations of candidacy.
Sept. 13 - Last day for the clerk to certify nominees to be placed on the ballot for the Nov. 5 election.
Sept. 20 - Last day to file declaration of intent by a write-in candidate for the Nov. 5 election.
Sept. 20 - Last day for a candidate for the November 5 election to withdraw before the election.
Oct. 11 - Last day to pre-register to vote with the county clerk (until 5 p.m.) for the Nov. 5 election.
Oct. 25 - Last day for an application for a mail-in absentee ballot to be received by the county clerk (no later than 5 p.m.) for the Nov. 5 election.
Nov. 1 - Last day for early voting (until 5 p.m.) for the Nov. 5 election at the Early Voting polling place.
Nov. 5 – Election, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
