Three new trustees were sworn into the Nampa School Board at the Jan. 18 regular meeting. Tracey Pearson represents Zone 3, Brook Taylor represents Zone 4 and Jeff Kirkman represents Zone 5. They join returning trustees Mandy Simpson (Zone 1) and Mike Kipp (Zone 2).
At the meeting, Trustee Kirkman was selected the new chairman of the board, and Trustee Pearson was selected as the vice chair.

Newly Elected Trustees
Tracey Pearson
Occupation: Registered Nurse
Tracey Pearson (Zone 3) is a registered nurse and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her husband is a trauma ICU nurse. She is a proud mother of three grown children. She has two daughters in college, and her son is a Marine. Her education has allowed her to advocate for foster children and their families in the social work setting, and patients and their families in hospital and home settings. Tracey put herself through nursing school as a single mom and has instilled this important work ethic in her children. She's learned through nursing and social work the importance of family first, understanding the power in the family, and that children are our most precious gift from God.

Brook Taylor
Occupation: Community Proprietor
Brook Taylor (Zone 4) is a third-generation Idahoan and a proud alumna of the district. She has four children who are either currently in or have attended schools within the district. As a community proprietor she understands her responsibility to serve. She has been actively involved with the NHS boosters for the last five years and had the honor to serve as Project Graduation president in 2020. Her community outreach includes charitable contributions for our families and youth, sponsorships, and connection. She believes our children to be our most valuable asset. She understands the core roll families play and the value of a teacher. Her hope is to leave this world a bit better than she found it.

Jeff Kirkman
Occupation: IDOC Program Manager
Jeff Kirkman (Zone 5) has had extended family living in Nampa for almost forever and has lived here for about 30 years. He and his wife Gretchen have five kiddos – two who have graduated from and three currently attending Nampa schools. He has been employed for 20+ years with the Idaho Department of Correction and has served in various leadership roles including institution warden in Pocatello. He currently oversees and manages all mentoring, volunteer, and religious activities throughout the state. He is vice-chair for Nampa City Planning and Zoning Commission and has been a Commissioner for the past four years and also served on the Idaho Governor’s Council for Suicide Prevention. His focus in education and experience has been in government, public policy and procedure, training and development, legal, contract administration and monitoring, conflict resolution, and education with a secondary teaching certificate.

Returning Trustees
Mandy Simpson (Zone 1) is a math teacher at Capital High School in the Boise School District. She previously spent nine years teaching in Nampa, at East Valley Middle School and then Columbia High School. She has coached students in several areas, including basketball, snow team, tennis, volleyball and golf. Mandy was first elected to the Nampa School Board in 2015 and reelected in 2019.
Mike Kipp (Zone 2) is Professor of Practical Theology at Northwest Nazarene University where he has served for the past 18 years. He is married to Sandy and together they have two children, Spencer (class of 2020 NHS) and McKenna (class of 2023 NHS). Prior to serving at NNU, Mike was the Pastor to Students and their Families at College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa. Mike was elected to the board in 2019 after first serving for a few months as an appointee.
