Fifteen middle school robotics teams competed at the Idaho state championship competition, held Feb. 18 at Nampa’s East Valley Middle School.
The following schools had teams qualify to compete at state: five from East Valley Middle School (Nampa), four from South Middle School (Nampa), three from Lone Star Middle School (Nampa), one from West Middle School (Nampa), one from Thomas Jefferson Middle School (Caldwell) and one from Wood River Middle School (Hailey).
The winning teams will compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship to be held in Dallas, Texas, in May:
• Tournament champion: Annihilators, East Valley Middle School
• Tournament champion: East Valley Cookie Monsters, East Valley Middle School
• Design Award: South 4, South Middle School
• Robot Skills Champion: Annihilators, East Valley Middle School
• Excellence Award: Astromechs, Wood River Middle School
In addition, the South 2 team from South Middle School took home the Judges Award (does not qualify for World competition).
