Story from TDS Telecommunications:
NAMPA, Idaho – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) surprised a longtime Nampa School District custodian with a Hometown Hero Award today in front of students at a local elementary school.
The TDS Hometown Hero Award honors those making a difference in the community, and it especially aims to recognize our unsung heroes. TDS presented the award to Viola Gutierrez today at Sherman Elementary School, where she worked for several years before moving to the administrative offices in Nampa.
Gutierrez is being recognized for her nearly 25 years of providing a clean and safe space for children to attend school. She’s beloved by staff and students alike and takes great pride in her work and the relationships she’s built.
“I have personally worked with Vi for 24 years, the last 10 of which as her manager. I have never known someone with such a kind heart and an absolute dedication to all Nampa School District students and their security and safety at school,” said Shane Harrell, Account Project Manager for ABM, the school district’s contracted custodial provider.
“Viola has dedicated her career to helping kids and has made a huge impact on the lives of so many. We are proud and excited to honor her with the TDS Hometown Hero Award today and shine a spotlight that she so richly deserves,” said Pamela Hayn, associate manager of field marketing in Nampa.
As part of the award, Gutierrez received a special plaque and flower bouquet. The company also donated $1,000 to the Family and Community Resource Centers, which provide food, clothing, and community resource connections for families across the Nampa School District.
TDS is continuing construction on its high-speed, all-fiber internet networks in Meridian, Garden City, Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell. Previous Hometown Hero Awards have been presented to Andrea Parker, a leader at the Treasure Valley Family YMCA in Meridian, and the Nampa Police Volunteers.
