Nampa High Senior Nakiah Shanafelt was a big winner at the Western Idaho Science and Engineering Fair held March 4 at Boise State University. Not only did Nakiah come in second overall with her presentation titled “Non-Conventional Fabric to Minimize Bleeding from Puncture Wounds,” but her research also earned the following awards:
- Category Gold Medal
- Best of Category – Engineering
- Office of Naval Research – Naval ScienceAward
- United States Metric Association – ScienceFair Award
- The Yale Science& Engineering Association, Inc. – Most Outstanding Exhibit in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- $1,000 scholarship from Idaho State University
