An initiative launched by the Columbia Wildcats boys basketball team’s, Hoops for Hope, resulted in a generous donation for the district’s Homeless Education Fund.
The team decided to donate $3 for every 3-pointer made this season. This idea quickly took on a life of its own by way of fan engagement of great shooting from the boys. By season’s end, the team had shot its highest 3-point percentage in school history and made almost 200 3-pointers.
With matching pledges from gracious community members, Hoops for Hope was able to raise a grand total of $1,918. The team plans to build and share the program next season within both the district and community.
