Exciting news for our school community! This school year, students at the following elementary schools will enjoy free, fresh fruits and vegetables, all thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, administered by our state. It's all part of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), a fantastic initiative designed to provide a wide variety of healthy fruits and vegetables to children during the school day.
Schools receiving the FFVP are:
- Centennial Elementary School
- Central Elementary Nampa
- Endeavor Elementary
- Greenhurst Elementary School
- Iowa Elementary School
- New Horizons Dual Language
- Park Ridge School
- Roosevelt Elementary
- Sherman Elementary School
- Snake River Elementary School
- Willow Creek Elementary School
The FFVP, which falls under the National School Lunch Act, prioritizes schools like ours, where a high percentage of students are enrolled in free and reduced-cost meals programs.
We are thrilled to be part of this initiative, in the Nampa School District. It's a great opportunity for our students to experience a diverse array of fresh produce and to foster healthier eating habits. Thank you to Michelle Eggers and her NSD #131 Nutrition Services staff for their work to get this for our students!
