Student Spotlight - Katlyn Wyne

Whether it’s on the track, in the classroom, or even on the dance floor, Columbia High Junior Katlyn Wyne is leading the pack. A state and national champion on Columbia’s dance team, Katyln has also helped lead the Wildcat cross country team to the state finals over the past two years, all while thriving academically as a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. A natural born leader, she’s proud to be a captain on the track team and secretary for the school’s leadership program.

“If you, yourself, are positive and you have a good atmosphere and you’re a fun person to be around, then you’ll draw people to your teams, to your events. Events that you host, people will want to be there, and they’ll want to be a better person, even in the classroom, at sports, outside of school, they want to be better. And I think that’s a great way to lead,” said Katlyn.

Going into her senior year at Columbia, Katlyn says she is close to getting her associate’s degree with high hopes of one day getting into medical school to become a surgeon, a dream she’s had since elementary school!

“I think it would be so cool to come home every day and say I saved someone’s life, or I improved it,” smiled Katyln.

As Katlyn enters her senior year at Columbia, she reflects back on the hard work she’s put in, knowing it wasn’t an easy road.

“You make time for the things that you love, and if you want to be great, you can!” remarked Katlyn.
