Idaho Youth Well-being Assessment

Idaho Youth Well-being Assessment

Overview

The Nampa School District is partnering with Communities for Youth and the Idaho Department of Education to administer the Idaho Youth Well-being Assessment (IYWA). This assessment provides valuable insights into student well-being and helps schools make data-driven decisions to support student needs.

Participation in the IYWA is completely voluntary. Parents and guardians must provide consent for their student to participate.

Key Information

  • What is the IYWA? The IYWA is a student well-being assessment designed to gather important information about the health, school environment, community engagement, and other factors influencing students' experiences.  The survey is helpful in letting school districts and their communities learn more about the challenges facing our youth including substance abuse, depression, anxiety, suicide, friendships, schoolwork, community supports, physical activity, and social media.
  • Who is eligible to participate? The assessment is available for students in grades 6-12 at participating schools.
  • How does participation work? Parents or guardians must provide consent for their child to participate. Schools will share opt-in forms through their usual communication channels.
  • Privacy & Data Security The IYWA is anonymous. It does not collect personal information, and individual responses are not shared with schools. The data is stored securely and analyzed by Communities for Youth to provide school-level insights.
  • Assessment Administration The assessment is conducted online, and students can take it during designated school hours. Students are not required to answer any questions they do not feel comfortable with.
  • Use of Results Schools use the results to understand overall student well-being and to develop initiatives in partnerships with the City of Nampa’s Healthy Impact Nampa Coalition that enhance student support services.
